Eden Drivers Briefing 2026
Eden RC Raceway General Rules/Info
We, East Antrim Buggy Club are affiliated to the BRCA & Radio Controlled Car Association Of Ireland and as such operate to the rules of each association as appropriate.
Pitting:
The main pits and parking will be within areas shown on street view map – minimal use of car park space
Drivers are responsible for their own shelter whether tent/gazebo
Drivers are responsible for providing their own power source for charging
Bins will be provided for rubbish – the area must be left as it was found. The club owns a litter picker and a poop scoop should anyone fancy doing some housekeeping :)
There will be no pit space within race control or inline with the main straight and timing loop locations, except for Committee members directly involved with the running of the event, and/or members with access/mobility needs.
General Track Setup:
The area of grass permits tracks approx 35m x 25m but will likely run slightly smaller
No obstacles/jumps will be over 1ft tall – layouts can have technical aspects without huge airtime and potential expensive repair bills.
Jumps are designed to be light and portable – they are not weight bearing.
Width of track on approach to obstacles may vary, obstacles all built to 2m width
Start straight will always be at the top of the track directly in front of rostrum – will be minimum 2.5m wide – ideally 3m – location of timing loop will be easily distinguishable with cones & signage
Gridding for finals will staggered at 2m – Pole position driver to choose which side of track to start
Orange barrier fence will be erected on all sides of track with a no-mans land gap to track outer pipe and openings for access
Computer Timing & Results
Timing system and announcements as per Soccer Shed
Heat listing, heat results, round results, final results will not be printed – all details will be available immediately online
Trackside signage all have QR code directly to our LiveRC results page -
Qualifying & Finals
There will be a 3min warning prior to the Heat Start - at 2mins to start the track will open for warmup lap/s - at this point marshalls should be present.
Qualifying runs will be 5mins in length + last lap. Computer will announce when you're done, when all drivers are finished and when race is completed
All runs have a 3min pre-clock – track open at 2mins as announced by Race Software
Qualifying for all classes will be Best 2 of 3 rounds (QUAL POINTS) - Fastest driver per class in each round receives 1pt, 2pts 3pts etc - lowest total points will sit pole position for the Finals
Finals will be 5 mins in length based on Best 2 of 3 legs
Marshalling
Drivers in the last heat will usually marshall Heat 1, Heat 1 marshalls Heat 2 etc
Cones with numbered boards dotted around the track indicate your marshall point - car 5 in Heat2 goes to point 5 when marshalling Heat 3
Marshalls should be aware of what's happening within their area and not watching the race - cross the track only when safe to do so - ie do not impede other cars or risk injury for the sake of putting a flipped car back on it's wheels!
Weather:
Weather is guaranteed in NI but as we know can change with 5mins notice. Committee will do our best to monitor weather on the run-up to a race date and if necessary make a call on cancellation or rescheduling of the round. Any pre-payment received at this point will carry to the next event.
Where a race day has started and therefore qualifying has begun -
Result can be called after Qualifying is complete (all 3 rounds)
In instances where it's not possible to run all 3 final legs – Final results to that point are void and overall result for the day will be based on Qualifying Order.
Where weather causes significant delay to the event timetable – Breaks between heats/rounds/finals may be reduced – will be announced.
Finals may be reduced to single legs in order to conclude racing before incoming poor weather arrives.
Facilities:
Our track is located less than 2mins from the small village of Eden – driving through the village from either direction you will find fast food and a number of small shops.
Nearest petrol/diesel would be in Whitehead, approx 10mins away.
Absolutely no toilet breaks anywhere that isn't a toilet at the community centre
Racing & Classes:
All of the classes that have been ran over winter in Soccer Shed will be available, we're very open to including other classes of 10th scale cars – we'll simply merge the class into the most suitable when considering speed/size and driver experience.
We primarily run:
2wd Clubman (min 10.5t motors & Blinky esc setting)
4wd Clubman (min 10.5t motors & Blinky esc setting)
2wd Stadium Trucks – Open Motor
2wd Modified – Open Motor/timing/boost etc
4wd Modified – Open Motor/timing/boost etc
Vintage
Tyres:
None of the classes have a Controlled Tyre that must be used. We do however have recommendations that drivers are free to follow.
2wd Buggy Front – Schumacher Cut Stagger Low (Yellow) or Mini-Spike (Yellow
2wd Buggy Rear – Schumacher Mini-Spike (Yellow Compound
4wd Buggy Rear – Schumacher Mini-Spike (Yellow Compound)
4wd Buggy Front – Schumacher Mini-Spike (Yellow Compound)
Stadium Truck Rear – Schumacher Mini-Spike (Yellow Compound)
Stadium Truck Front – Schumacher Stagger Rib (Yellow Compound)**
Other Options available:
Ballistic Buggy - (White & Green Compounds)
** ST tyres have a little more variance depending on preference. Stagger Rib Front & Rear has been a very good combination of Rear Traction and Steering on the looser marbled surface of Soccer Shed – But may run better with a Mini-Spike or Mini-Pin on the rear depending on weather. Ie: Mini-Pin Rear when the grass is bone dry.
Disqualification (You're going home)
Toilet breaks anywhere that isn't a proper toilet at the Community Centre
Standing on jumps – they are light and portable by design but not weight bearing
Failure to do as reasonably requested by a Committee Member - ie persistently standing on track pipe
Allowing of non club/BRCA members to enter track area
Actions that may harm the Club's relationship with locals and/or the Council
